Code of Conduct Audit
Many organisations have developed Codes of Conduct, however the crucial element is to ensure that they are properly embedded throughout the organisation. The Bespoke Ethics Assessment is designed to ensure that behaviours on the ground are checked. But as a first step, many organisations want to check simply that the Code of Conduct has been properly disseminated and understood by employees and, if relevant, external stakeholders.
For a number of clients GoodCorporation has designed a Code of Conduct Audit to help organisations to measure how well the Code of Conduct has been rolled out. This includes four key elements:
- Contents of the Code of Conduct
- Governance of the Code of Conduct
- Embedding the Code of Conduct
- Raising concerns about the issues addressed in the Code
This assessment involves interviews with senior managers, a review of documents and systems, surveys of employees and other stakeholders as well as a presentation of the findings to the board/senior management team.
"The business community is under the spotlight like never before. We either demonstrate that we operate responsibly or we risk losing our licence to do business. Corporate Responsibility has become mainstream because the concerns of society about business behaviour are real…and because businesses have failed to respond adequately." Lord Sharman, Chairman of Aviva and Chairman of GoodCorporation’s founding advisory panel.
