ISO 26000 Assessment
The International Standards Organisation (ISO) announced recently that it is to move forward in 2010 with the launch of the ISO 26000, corporate social responsibility standard. The standard has been in development for the last ten years. It sets out “guidance” on a range of CSR issues and how organisations should manage these issues.
At present the ISO 26000 Standard is not designed for certification, but instead is available for guidance. GoodCorporation is aware that a number of organisations are already looking at how to assess themselves against the ISO 26000 Standard. One of the challenges, is that the ISO 26000 Standard is not designed for certification and its content is a set of business principles rather than a set of measureable indicators.
GoodCorporation has developed a unique assessment methodology which can be used to assess and measure the extent to which an organisation meets the requirements of the ISO 26000 Standard.
The hard part of understanding ISO26000 for your organisation is translating the long guidance document into a manageable set of practices that your company should adopt, in order to comply with the spirit of the ISO Standard. GoodCorporation has already done this translation exercise and has developed a manageable 'referential' - a list of practices taken from the ISO 26000 Guidance document. If you would be interested in receiving a copy of this referential, please send an email to info@goodcorporation.com.
