Following the development of the code of conduct for a leading luxury car manufacturer, GoodCorporation was engaged to create a bespoke e-learning module to support its rollout. The objective was to design training that reflected the client’s values, sector-specific activities and the regulatory environment, while promoting understanding through interactive learning..

For global businesses, an effective code of conduct is more than just a set of rules; it reflects the organisation’s values and shapes its workplace culture. However, a code alone is no longer enough to ensure compliance. At GoodCorporation, we recognise that engaging, targeted training is essential for making the code meaningful and ensuring it has a lasting impact.

In the case of our work with the luxury car manufacturer, this meant developing a training programme that was not only aligned with the company’s values, but also tailored to the complexities of their sector and the regulatory landscape.

Without such training, even the most comprehensive code risks becoming a static document. For our client, the e-learning module was therefore designed to ensure that the code’s expectations were clear and actionable, helping employees to understand how the code can be applied to their day-to-day activities as well as how they can align their behaviour with company values.

Understanding the training needs

Working closely with the client, we began by developing a detailed structure for the module, identifying the core topics that would make the training relevant and meaningful for employees while focusing on the key areas that needed to be addressed. Through a series of planning meetings, we refined the direction of the material, ensuring it conveyed the organisation’s priorities and reflected the desired tone whilst also remaining interesting and straightforward for intended users. .

To support an efficient development process, we shared an early draft of the introductory section, giving the client the opportunity to review the proposed content and design approach, helping ensure that expectations were aligned.

To maximise relevance and engagement, the content was carefully tailored to the organisation’s structure, making the training feel applicable and relevant to all key functions of the business being addressed. We were careful to develop examples and messages that resonated across the business as a way of making sure that the training felt relevant to a broad internal audience while strengthening its overall impact.

Engaging employees across the business

With over 20 years of experience conducting business ethics assessments across a wide range of sectors and countries, GoodCorporation understands the practical challenges that organisations face when putting a code of conduct into practice. This on-the-ground experience was key to shaping the e-learning, helping to ensure that the training incorporated likely scenarios and offered meaningful guidance for employees.

Drawing on our experience of how people engage with ethics content in practice, the training was designed to complement the code, rather than replicating it, using clear, accessible language and a narrative style to communicate key principles effectively.  The material was then delivered in short, focused sections and supported by realistic case studies, scenarios and quizzes tailored to the client’s industry, designed to test understanding and provoke reflection by users on their learnings so far.

The result was a comprehensive e-learning module tailored to the luxury car sector and built around the company’s values and risk profile. The training moved the code of conduct from words on a page into operational practice, making expectations clear, encouraging discussion, and reinforcing ethical behaviour at all levels of the business.
