Human rights investigations

GoodCorporation offers a distinct community-centred approach to human rights investigations, differentiating purely workplace issues from alleged human rights violations. This approach draws on over 20 years of experience working onsite and around the globe to help organisations identify, mitigate and prevent wrongdoing.

As such we have built a reputation as a trusted partner for addressing allegations of human rights violations. We have extensive experience of working in some of the most challenging locations in terms of human rights enforcement and have worked with clients to tackle a range of highly complex issues.

GoodCorporation is one of the few consultancy firms providing investigation services related to allegations of human rights violations. Our considerable on-the-ground experience in managing and addressing human rights issues enables us to recommend corrective actions that are practical, pragmatic, and effective in the aftermath of an investigation.

Tailored investigation techniques are a must-have in human rights investigation. Our global network of experienced local consultants is key to our ability to engage with local communities in a meaningful and respectful way. Our bespoke Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) expertise is also of help when investigating human rights violations, notably cases of gender-based violations, ensuring sensitivity to the necessary gender and ethnicity perspectives.

Like any investigation, investigating allegations of human rights violations can be very sensitive. GoodCorporation is cognisant of data privacy issues and protects the confidentiality of victims and whistleblowers at each step of the investigation process. We adopt a fair and impartial approach during investigations and ensure that all data we collect is usable, legal, and ethically obtained.

Useful frameworks for human rights investigations

GoodCorporation's frameworks on human rights are based on emerging international best practice. They were developed with reference to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles Reporting Framework, the Modern Slavery Act and the ILO Declaration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

Our frameworks are used in much of our human rights consulting work to develop, embed or assess an organisation's approach to respecting human rights. We can also tailor the framework to suit the needs and risk profile of individual companies and specific investigations.

They cover three key areas: the governance and management of human rights, respecting labour rights and respecting community rights.
